Healthy Warming Apple Crumble

As you know, I am on a sugar free, grain free cleanse which means there are a lot of sweet things that I cannot eat. Although the cleanse is mainly sugar free I can eat green apples and some berries. So with that in mind, I decided to tinker with an apple crumble.

This recipe was inspired by Lola Berry’s version however hers called for honey or agave as well as a couple of other things I didn’t think were necessary. Here’s my cleanse friendly and totally delicious Apple Crumble.

Healthy Apple Crumble
Serves 4

4 Granny Smith Apples
200 grams of pecans
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
2 tablespoons of shredded coconut (or as much as you like)
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
4 scoops of stevia (I use Nirvana and it comes with a little scoop) I recommend you add whatever Stevia you are using to taste – each one is different in sweetness as well as quantities.
1 vanilla pod or organic vanilla bean powder

Chop up apples (if you are cleansing, peel the skin off) and place in baking dish
Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cinnamon over apples
Blend pecans in food processor until they are at a “crumble” consistency or to your liking.
In a bowl mix pecans, vanilla, shredded coconut, cinnamon, coconut oil and stevia.
Spoon or sprinkle mixture over apples to cover.
Bake at 180 degrees for at least 40 mins.

Serve with fresh organic raw cream or yoghurt. Great for breakfast too!
