My health had really fallen away as a priority over the last few years, as I had cared for my partner through his cancer treatment up until his death. I had given up my regular sports, opted for the easiest meals to feed my family and was consumed with grief and stress. I was feeling depressed, flat and very tired; I had gained a lot of weight and had excruciating foot pain. I saw my GP and a psychologist, but counselling and an iron infusion didn’t seem to be enough to turn things around for me.
I had hoped to sort out my plantar fasciitis with a few visits to the podiatrist and some new orthotics, but I wasn’t getting the results I’d hoped for. Eventually, I was told that my weight gain was part of the problem and I would need to address that in order to fix my foot. This was quite a blow as I had been trying to go at it the other way round: fix my foot in order to exercise the stress and excess weight away.
I knew I needed a different approach to getting well, so I booked in to see Sarah. She had been highly recommended by a friend who had had great success with her own health goals. Importantly too, my friend thought we would be a good fit – Sarah’s practical and down-to-earth approach made it easy for me to relax and trust the process.
That said, I admit that I didn’t really believe we could fix my plantar fasciitis by changing my diet. It made sense to me that it would improve with weight loss, but I wasn’t expecting such incredible results with my foot pain so quickly. Turns out reducing inflammation in the body has amazing consequences!
The dietary and lifestyle changes that I have made with Sarah’s help have been incremental and sustainable. Sarah’s approach was personal and she tailored the changes to what was happening for me – this is not a one-size fits all approach to wellness. It has been more than six months since I first met with Sarah and I have continued to feel better and better. I am still losing weight without feeling like I am missing out on dinners with friends and family. My mood and energy levels are the greatest improvements though – I feel like I’ve got my life back on track. I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough!
